The workshop was built on the idea of bringing together research highlighting focusing on experiments that aim at reducing dependence on fossil carbon or increase resilience and adaptive capacity. The underlying question was the role experiments play in innovative climate change policy development and governance. The workshop brought together researchers from different fields to explore the topics of experimenting thereby directly contributing to the objective of integrating a fragmented research landscape. Several of the presenters represented early career researchers and thereby the workshop also supported the building of capacity. The workshop will lead to two special issues in international journals and can thus also contribute to policy development.
